The council here is called Hart, after the river, and the stag on its logo is a pun on the name. Nobody says they live in Hart. They say Fleet, which is the only town of any size and where the council’s offices are, or Hook, Odiham, Hartley Wintney, Yateley or Blackwater.

Fleet & Hook News covers the district on that basis. Hart District Council decides planning, bins, car parks and licensing across all of it, and publishes the evidence in registers few people ever open. We open them and write down what they say, with a link to the document every time, and we keep the practical pages right for the days you just want an answer.

  • Fleet house prices: £486,882 on the latest Land Registry figures, the highest average of any district in Hampshire.
  • Trains to London: Waterloo in 42 minutes from Fleet, what a season ticket costs, and the last train home.
  • Roadworks and parking: Reading Road South is shut south-eastbound and Church Road closes on 17 August for up to 109 days.
  • Things to do: Fleet Pond, Edenbrook, Odiham Castle and the canal, all free, with the parking details.
  • Planning: an outline application for up to 2,160 homes at Murrell Green, in a district with no five-year housing land supply.
